About Reliable Fence Co.

Reliable Fence Company has been a household name in the fence business since the 1950’s. Reliable Fence Company was first opened in Norwell, Massachusetts and expanded to Ashland, and Cape Cod, where Reliable Fence Co. of Cape Cod continues to serve Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and southeastern Massachusetts.

Today, Reliable Fence Co. of Cape Cod is owned and operated by Derrick Pratt and partner Nick Svensson. Derrick is a third generation employee, and second generation owner of the business. Derrick’s family has long been in the fencing business, dating back to his grandfather Harold Pratt, who worked at the original Reliable Fence Co. location in Norwell as a foreman of the wood fence division, as well as building machinery for the company. Additionally, Derrick’s father Stan Pratt first started working for Reliable Fence Co. in Norwell after he came home from serving in the Army Reserves. Stan transferred to the Cape Cod location of Reliable Fence Co. and it has been a family affair on Cape Cod building and installing commercial and residential fences ever since.

During their busiest six months, Reliable fence highlights six different non-profits and donates 1% of their total sales to the non-profit through their Fence it Forward program. Their 2026 partners include: New England Wildlife Centers, The Family Table Collaborative, Tommy’s Place, Love Live Local, Habitat for Humanity MV, and Cape Kids Meals.

Reliable Fence Co. of Cape Cod has always been a true family business. Over the years, numerous members of the Pratt family and extended family have worked for the company in a variety of roles, helping build the reputation and values that define Reliable today. The tradition continues with Derrick, his wife Adrean as Office Manager, and partner Nick Svensson, making Reliable Fence a genuine family affair built on hard work, trust, and generations of dedication to Cape Cod.
