More than 100 Students Apply in Scholarship’s Inaugural Year

After reviewing more than 100 applications, Cape & Coast Bank announces the inaugural class of the bank’s Future Leaders Scholarship award.

The 2026 Cape & Coast Bank Future Leadership Scholarship winners will receive a one-time $2,500 award and include:

  • Colin Gleason, Barnstable High School and attending Bryant University
  • Isabela Mahoney, Mashpee High School and attending Providence College
  • Bennett McKenna, Nauset High School and attending Dartmouth College
  • Savannah Roy, Sturgis West High School and attending UConn

Five Employees Recognized for Expanding Leadership Roles

Cape & Coast Bank has announced the promotions of five employees in recognition of outstanding performance and commitment to advancing the bank’s focus on personalized banking and exceptional customer service.

Among the promotions approved by Cape & Coast’s Board of Directors are Jason Bordun – First Vice President, Information Systems Manager; Lauren Connolly – Vice President, Human Resources Business Partner; Liz Griswold – Assistant Vice President, Senior Compliance and Risk Analyst; Bob Martin – First Vice President, Investment Executive; and Andrea Merianos – Vice President, Learning and Development Officer.

  • Jason Bordun, First Vice President, Information Systems Manager Jason Bordun’s promotion to First Vice President reflects his more than 20 years of experience with Cape & Coast Bank. Through thoughtful leadership and cross-departmental collaboration, Jason has played a critical role in the bank’s ongoing operational and technological success. Jason’s leadership and dedication extend to the local community through volunteer work with the Cape Cod YMCA, where he currently serves as Vice Chair of the organization’s Board of Directors.
  • Lauren Connolly, Vice President, Human Resources Business Partner Lauren Connolly has tirelessly worked to strengthen HR processes and create a positive employee experience through recruiting, onboarding, and support. Additionally, Lauren serves as an exceptional ambassador for the bank by building relationships with local schools and colleges and supporting area nonprofit organizations.
  • Liz Grizwold, Assistant Vice President, Senior Compliance and Risk Analyst Liz Grizwold continues to strengthen the bank’s compliance efforts through guidance and training, helping to support the bank’s ongoing success. Additionally, over the past few years, Liz has balanced professional achievements with furthering her education, recently earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration and obtaining her Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation.
  • Bob Martin, First Vice President, Investment Executive With more than 30 years of experience as a financial advisor, Bob Martin’s has earned a reputation among Cape & Coast Financial Services clients for excellent service, trusted advice and consistent results. Along with a dedication to client relations, Bob is personally invested in the Cape Cod community, volunteering with a number of nonprofit organizations in the region, including The Family Pantry of Cape Cod.
  • Andrea Merianos, Vice President, Learning and Development Officer Through her leadership of initiatives such as a recent online banking rollout and oversight of the bank’s internal professional development program, Andrea Merianos has helped improve both the employee and client experience. Her dedication to helping others succeed extends across all departments and strengthens the bank as a whole.

Cape & Coast Bank Foundation Partners with Local Nonprofits to Achieve Lasting Community Impact

Q1 2027 Grants Support Foundation Pillars Including Housing, Healthcare and Community Vitality

The Cape & Coast Bank Foundation continues its mission to transform lives through the power of community banking with the awarding of $17,500 in grants to local nonprofit organizations addressing critical needs across Cape Cod.

“Philanthropy, local engagement and relationship building are at the heart of community banking,” said Cape & Coast Bank President and CEO Erik Porter. “Cape & Coast Bank is committed to making our region a better place to live, work and thrive through community involvement and financial support of nonprofit organizations dedicated to bettering the lives of Barnstable County residents. I congratulate Cape Cod Cape Verdean Museum and Cultural Center, Colorful Kidz, Falmouth Housing Trust, Lower Cape Outreach Council and Provincetown Commons for being named Foundation grant recipients for the first quarter of the bank’s fiscal year 2027.”

Cape Cod Cape Verdean Museum and Cultural Center

As Cape Cod’s first museum and cultural center dedicated to celebrating Cabo Verde’s rich history, the $2,500 grant will help with preservation efforts, allowing the museum to purchase digitizing equipment to assist in cataloging a recently donated collection.

“We are tasked with not only sharing this history, but preserving and protecting it,” said Cape Cod Cape Verdean Museum and Cultural Center co-founder and curator Barbara Burgo. “We honor those who came before us, and we thank Cape & Coast Bank for helping us ensure that these priceless artifacts will be on display for generations to come.”

Colorful Kidz

This Sandwich-based organization brings joy to children facing difficult life transitions through its personalized room makeovers. The Cape & Coast Foundation’s $2,500 grant gives the organization flexibility to utilize funds for any project in any community on Cape Cod, allowing Colorful Kidz to increase its impact locally.

“Cape & Coast Bank is invested in the Cape, and we’re so appreciative,” said Caren Berry, founder of Colorful Kidz. “Many of our projects are funded through town grants, so they are restricted to that specific town. The Cape & Coast Bank Foundation grant allows us the freedom to work in any community on Cape Cod and purchase paint, flooring and other materials to complete these makeover projects and create lasting impacts for these deserving kids.”

Falmouth Housing Trust

The Falmouth Housing Trust promotes homeownership for low to moderate income residents in Falmouth earning 80-140% AMI (Area Median Income). This $5,000 grant provides support for the organization’s New Projects Fund and Home Buy-Down Program, which provides attainable homeownership opportunities for the area’s year-round workforce.

“The Cape & Coast Bank Foundation is committed to the creation of affordable and attainable housing solutions for local residents and families,” said Kate Ayson, Falmouth Housing Trust Development Officer. “We are grateful for the recent grant award which will assist a new homeowner through our Home Buy Down Program. We look forward to a continued partnership with Cape & Coast Bank Foundation as we continue to provide housing opportunities and innovative homeownership programs in Falmouth.

Lower Cape Outreach Council

A vital resource for Lower and Outer Cape residents in need, a $10,000 commitment over two years will support the organization’s Hunger & Hope Can’t Wait capital campaign, and in particular the relocation and renovation of Katy’s Korner, which provides free clothing and home goods.

“Lower Cape Outreach Council is deeply grateful to the Cape & Coast Bank Foundation for its multi-year commitment to support our first-ever capital campaign, a transformative initiative for our organization and those we serve,” said Gerry Desautels, Lower Cape Outreach Council Director of Development. “Cape & Coast Bank reflects the true heart of community banking, showing genuine care for the people of Cape Cod and a concerted commitment to helping our communities live, work, and thrive.”

Provincetown Commons

Offering year-round studio, exhibition, meeting, and conventional desk spaces, educational workshops and events, Provincetown Commons is a vital driver of the region’s creative economy. The Cape & Coast Bank Foundation’s $2,500 grant provides greater flexibility for the organization to continue its mission to create structure and opportunities for the bustling and oldest continuous art colony in the United States.

Bank Offers Future Professionals Real-World Experience in Retail Banking, Operations, Business Intelligence and Marketing

HYANNIS, Mass., June 2, 2026 — Cape & Coast Bank has welcomed its intern class for the Summer of 2026.

Eleven students from colleges and universities across the nation are participating in this year’s program, working with professionals from the bank’s retail, general operations, business intelligence, and marketing teams.

“Cape & Coast Bank is committed to supporting and mentoring the next generation of community banking professionals and is honored to welcome these students,” said Cape & Coast Bank President and CEO Erik Porter. “We hope this experience will serve as a springboard to launch a career in banking, perhaps even with Cape & Coast Bank. Interns will also gain career insights through leadership tips and a panel discussion led by members of the bank’s team, providing exposure to different career paths and perspectives.

Christine Parent Named Vice President, Commercial Relationship Manager; Vanessa Kusy Named Branch Manager, Small Business Specialist

Cape & Coast Bank recently announced the internal promotion of two longtime employees, recognizing their strong performance and commitment to powering local communities through personalized banking and customer service. Effective immediately, the Bank has elevated Christine Parent to Vice President, Commercial Relationship Manager, and Vanessa Kusy to Branch Manager, Small Business Specialist in Marstons Mills.

Parent, who launched her financial career with Cape & Coast Bank 14 years ago, has built deep knowledge and strong client relationships with previous roles including Commercial Lending Assistant, Credit Analyst, Portfolio Manager, and Business Banking Credit Solutions Specialist.

With a strong understanding of commercial lending, market analysis and unique challenges for businesses in the region, Christine provides business clients with sound financial advice, creating solutions tailored to their specific needs and ensuring lasting success.

A resident of Marstons Mills, Christine is heavily involved in her community and is President and treasurer of the Cape Cod Art Center, a YMCA board member, and a member of the Cape & Coast Bank Foundation Board of Directors

Vanessa Kusy, Branch Manager, Small Business Specialist

Kusy, an experienced retail banking professional, joined Cape & Coast Bank as a Universal Banker in 2021, and has continued to grow within the organization, assuming roles of increased responsibility during her tenure.

As branch manager in Marstons Mills, Kusy oversees day-to-day operations, grows new and existing client relationships, and provides guidance and a motivational team environment for the entire branch.

Kusy resides in Marstons Mills and volunteers with Meals on Wheels and is actively engaged in supporting local community initiatives.

Cape & Coast Bank Reports Strong Growth, Community Impact at Annual Meeting

Appoints New Board Members and Corporators to Guide Bank Forward Toward Digital and Operational Transformation

Cape & Coast Bank reported strong financial growth, elected six new members to its governance body and highlighted a major philanthropic impact across Cape Cod at its annual meeting for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026.

Cape & Coast Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Erik Porter reported the bank grew its total assets to $1.67 billion – a nearly 4% increase over the previous fiscal year, substantially increased net income to $8.7 million and recorded core deposit growth of 6%. The bank also reported robust performance in commercial loan and residential mortgage originations.

Porter also outlined the bank’s strategy for its fiscal year 2027 during the annual meeting, emphasizing a strategic digital and operational transformation that places an exceptional and personalized client experience. He also discussed the organization’s strategy to enhance its position as the region’s “bank for business” by empowering businesses and their employees to thrive by providing tailored financial solutions, unmatched expertise and counsel and a commitment to innovation.

“Cape & Coast Bank continues its solid growth trajectory, even in uncertain economic conditions, which reflects the strength of our community focus and the dedication of our team of professionals, who love what they do,” said Porter. “We look forward to providing an exceptional customer experience, aligned with our mission to be the best bank for Cape Cod, as we continue to evolve and transform to meet the growing demand for digital banking products and technologies.”

The bank also announced through its corporate giving initiatives and the Cape & Coast Bank Foundation, that provided $443,390 in grants and community support to local nonprofit organizations in fiscal year 2026. These funds helped to address food insecurity, housing challenges, and access to healthcare across Cape Cod. Nonprofits highlighted during the annual meeting included Falmouth Service Center, Lower Cape Outreach Council and Duffy Health Center.

New Members Elected to Serve on Bank’s Governance Team

Three new members of the Cape & Coast Bank Board of Directors, and three new Corporators, were elected at the annual meeting.

New Directors:

  • Christine Murphy, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, Barnstable County Mutual Insurance Company.
  • Joel Sharmon, former partner at RSM US LLP, a leading provider of assurance, tax and consulting services.
  • Christian Valle, President and Chief Operating Officer, The Valle Group, an award-winning custom home builder.

New Corporators include:

  • Lee Ann Hesse, Executive Vice President and Chief Engagement Officer, Cape & Coast Bank.
  • Theresa McLaughlin, Global Head of Marketing & Digital Transformation, T. Rowe Price.
  • Graham Silliman, Managing Partner and Founder, Better Food LLC, a local restaurant developer and operator.

The meeting also marked the retirement of longtime Board of Directors members Nancy Garran, who served 33 years, and Chris Lynch, who served 15 years.

Cape & Coast Bank Appoints Christine ‘CJ’ Conrad Chief Client Experience Officer

As community banking continues to evolve, relationships remain at the heart of every client interaction. Cape & Coast Bank has appointed Christine “CJ” Conrad to the newly created role of Chief Client Experience Officer in response to rising client demand for faster, more seamless service across digital banking, deposit operations, the Customer Assistance Center, and marketing, aligning and optimizing teams that are central to the client experience. Conrad will report directly to Cape & Coast Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Erik Porter.

“CJ will make an immediate impact on Cape & Coast Bank as we evolve and align functional teams to create unparalleled community banking client experience consistent with our performance and growth strategy,” said Porter. “She is a proven and approachable leader who fully understands how all the elements of superior client experience – operations, digital, marketing and customer service – interact. As a longtime Cape Cod resident, CJ also has a strong understanding of the communities and clients we serve.”

Conrad, an accomplished banking professional with more than 15 years of progressive leadership experience, joins the bank from Middlesex Federal Savings, where she most recently held the position of Senior Vice President, Operations and Innovation. She has also held senior sales, marketing and customer experience roles at Martha’s Vineyard Bank, Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, Capital Bank and Androscoggin Bank.

“I look forward to helping guide Cape & Coast Bank as it navigates the new era in community banking, including the increased adoption of digital technologies, while meeting and exceeding client service expectations,” said Conrad. “I am also thrilled to once again serve the community and region where I reside with my family.”

Conrad holds a master’s degree in banking and financial services management from Boston University. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in art from Bates College, and a bachelor’s degree in design from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Cape & Coast Bank announced key additions and a promotion within its management team to advance its strategy to be the bank for business, expand core deposit relationships and enhance operational efficiency and digital capabilities. The Bank has appointed Mary Kay Shea as Chief Financial Officer and Brent Gable as Chief Information Officer and promoted Shanika Rogowski to Chief Consumer and Residential Banking Officer.

Since 2020, Rogowski has led the bank’s residential lending team. In a new and expanded role, she will also oversee retail banking and investment services, including the bank’s retail branch network, with a focus on deepening client relationships and driving deposit growth.

Porter also cited deep community banking experience, strategic execution acumen and strong team leadership as key attributes that Shea, Grable and Rogowski bring to the bank’s senior management team.

Mary Kay Shea, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

Shea, an accomplished financial professional with more than three decades of experience, joins Cape & Coast Bank from 1st Colonial Community Bank in New Jersey, where she has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating and Financial Officer since 2023. She has also held senior management roles at Royal Bank America, Parke Bank and Wainwright Bank & Trust Company.

Reporting directly to Cape & Coast Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Erik Porter, Shea will be responsible for treasury, budgeting, tax, accounting, asset and liability management and financial control activities for the institution.

“I am excited to join Cape & Coast Bank, an organization that embodies the true spirit and power of community banking,” said Shea. “With more than 30 years of experience working with community banks, I realize the importance of cultivating personal connections with business owners and clients. Shea earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Boston College Carroll School of Management.

Brent Grable, Chief Information Officer

Grable brings more than 25 years of experience to Cape & Coast Bank, most recently serving as Chief Information Officer at HarborOne Bank. He also held senior Information Technology roles at Santander Bank and State Street Bank.

Reporting directly to Chief Operating and Risk Officer Scott Kwarta, Grable will oversee technology, business intelligence and project management.

Grable earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colgate University and a master’s degree in business administration from Babson College.

Shanika Rogowski, Chief Consumer and Residential Banking Officer

With more than 30 years of industry experience, Shanika Rogowski joined Cape & Coast Bank in 2020 and has served in senior consumer and residential lending roles of increasing responsibility. She has also held senior positions at Mansfield Bank, Cambridge Savings Bank and Professional Advantage Financial Group.

Rogowski, who will report directly to Cape & Coast Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Erik Porter, is also a member of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association board of directors.

“I am honored to assume the role of Chief Consumer and Residential Banking Officer,” said Rogowski. “Cape & Coast Bank has built a strong, experienced team across residential lending, retail banking, and investment services, all focused on delivering an excellent client experience. Cape & Coast Bank Announces Future Leaders Scholarship

Cape & Coast Bank has launched its Future Leaders scholarship program and is now accepting applications from Cape Cod high school seniors graduating this spring.

Cape & Coast Bank will award up to four, one-time, $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors residing in and enrolled at Barnstable County schools who plan on attending a two– or four-year accredited college or university. Seniors attending a post-graduate vocational or trade school are also eligible.

The scholarship program has been established to provide financial assistance to students who show leadership acuity through formal roles like athletics or student government, or demonstrate leadership qualities including integrity, collaboration, accountability and a dedication to community service and improvement.

“Cape & Coast Bank is proud to introduce the Future Leaders Scholarship as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting education and investing in the long-term success of our local community,” said Cape & Coast Bank President and CEO Erik Porter. “We look forward to a robust response to the application process and welcome the opportunity to assist high school seniors who are destined the be the next generation of impactful leaders on Cape Cod.”

The simple online application process includes a questionnaire, providing a list of school or community activities, writing a short essay submission and supplying one letter of recommendation from a non-family member.
